Vancouver Island Real Estate Board Releases Annual Buyers Report
I just read the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) Annual Buyer Profile for 2008 for Vancouver Island, which shows some interesting statistics. Notably, 13% of all buyers continue to come from Alberta, 17% are from elsewhere on Vancouver Island and 34% of buyers originate from the same area. Vancouver Island continues to be a preferable destination for retirees, as 36% of residential properties purchased were for a retirement home. This trend is likely to continue as more and more baby boomers choose Vancouver Island as their retirement destination, due to the limitless recreational activities, its stunning beauty, a huge variety of arts and cultural events and of course, affordable housing, especially in some of the more rural areas. This is why I love to live here! For a complete copy of the report, visit the VIREB website.
