Real Estate Vancouver Island – Mill Bay Project by Island Timberlands
Island Timberlands owns a property that is 1,500 acres in size located just north of Victoria on Vancouver Island in the south-west corner of Mill Bay which shares over 4 km (2.5 miles) of common boundary with the town. The site, known as SW-Mill Bay is effectively a valley which includes a series of terraces between Mill Bay and the toe of the Malahat Ridge. The site spans the Handysen and John’s Creek watersheds, and includes Lattice (Rat) Lake. The site has excellent solar exposure and there are extensive views to the Saanich Inlet from many locations. Carma, a related company to Island Timberlands is proceeding with an Official Community Plan amendment to rezone this property to create new real estate inventory in the area. Open houses were held last year and planning discussions have been underway since 2006.
The company hopes to develop this Vancouver Island property into a future urban area that will include zoning for residential development, tourism, recreational activities such as golfing, equestrian trials and mountain biking as well as a small village centre. A major employment component may be introduced as part of the project. This project is located half way between Duncan and Victoria. Website:sw-millbay.com
