Big Project at 19 Wing in the Comox Valley for New Mess Facility

Construction Documents are in the 60% cost review stage to build a combined all ranks mess facility at 19 Wing Comox in the Comox Valley. Defence Construction Canada expects the construction documents to be completed in July 2010. The new 6,100 sq. m. facility will replace the three existing mess facilities at the 19 Wing Comox and will serve both current personnel and retired members. The building will combine dining, social and training facilities. A tender is subject to approvals and not expected to be issued until late 2010 or early 2011. The estimated cost of this project is $25 million and will bring a huge economic boost the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.
