Sooke Development Gets Green Light for Phase Two

Sooke‘s largest construction project received approval for its second phase this week. Mariner’s Village is a $300-million mixed-use waterfront project that is expected to transform the small Vancouver Island community of about 11,400 when completed over the built over the next two years.
The completed development will consist of 110,000 square feet of commercial space, 30,000 square feet of offices and 370 condos and townhouses, on five hectares of real estate near the Sooke Basin.
The initial phase of 33 condos and 16 townhomes called Navigator’s Point are complete, with residents already moving into units on the first three floors of the four-storey building. Currently, 39 of the townhouses and condos are sold.
The second phase, Merchant’s Landing, which will consist of the key commercial components, including a medical centre, a food market, fitness centre, boutiques, anchor drug store and underground parking. Plans for Mariner’s Village also include expanding the marina from 38 slips to 120.
